OYO Hotel Portage I-94

The room had no hot water and smelled awful. The hotel was very dirty and old. I stayed there last night and wouldn’t recommend it. It’s cheap, but the service is poor for that reason. Go somewhere else if you can.

I’ve stayed here multiple times and like coming when I can, but please check that the rooms are clean. My floor hadn’t been vacuumed, and there was a piece of plastic with a staple in it on the carpet. We first thought it was tape. It was visible with the lights on, but we hadn’t seen it in the dark. If we’d stepped on it, we would’ve complained. I’d have expected a discount, an extra hour, or some kind of complimentary gesture. That’s unacceptable. Don’t let it happen again. It wouldn’t look good if we ended up stepping on it.

We lost power on Wednesday night, and it finally came back after midnight. Then it went out again Thursday. We were away Friday, but when we got back after 6pm, the power was still off. We packed up and left.

The desk clerk was friendly and helpful, but that was the only good part. Don’t trust the online photos, this place is a dump. There were abandoned cars in the parking lot, and the lobby and hallways had no a/c. It was more comfortable outside. Our first room was in terrible shape, so we asked to move. The king deluxe room they gave us had broken a/c. We’d had enough, so we left for another hotel. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere!
