Kevin (I think) at the front desk was thoughtful, and I appreciated the shaving cream since I’d forgotten mine. The room was fine and the lobby looked nice, but the gym was the reason I chose the hotel and I couldn’t use it. The bike wasn’t activated and its seat wasn’t connected, which made it seem like nobody cared about the equipment. It made me wonder whether they even wash the sheets between guests. More than six weeks later, I was back in town for work and called before booking to ask if the Peloton had been fixed. They said yes, but it was still broken when I arrived.

I’ve had really positive stays here. The place is consistently clean and feels safe, the rooms are well kept, and the team is excellent. It’s handy that plenty of food places deliver by DoorDash right to the room. The free breakfast each morning is a nice extra, and there’s a little bar on site where you can unwind with a drink.

The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and a good desk for getting work done. The location was just right for where I needed to be, and breakfast was good. But the shower’s water pressure was ridiculously low. There was a little sound machine in the room, which didn’t exactly reassure me, and I kept hearing a loud, strange, nonstop buzzing or zooming noise around the room. I was on the top floor on the north side, away from the Interstate, and it was still distracting enough that I couldn’t relax at night. I slept only because I had earplugs. I don’t know whether other floors have the same problem, but if I’m back in Portage I’ll probably look at another hotel.

We’ve stayed at this location twice, and we’ll keep choosing it when we’re in town for tournaments because the hotel is clean and the staff are so welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Manager Kevin and the rest of the team are great. It’s easy to reach from the highway, and the lobby, pool, workout area, bar, and sitting spaces are all well maintained and have a nice feel.
