The staff were excellent, so kind, cheerful, and ready to help, and breakfast was great. The pool is nice for family time, and everything else is close by. The truck stop location isn’t exactly somewhere you’d want to stroll around, though. Our room was very clean, and they’re giving the place a facelift, which should make it look better. But a standard room needs a comfortable chair. Sitting on the bed gets old, and the office chair isn’t comfortable for long. There should also be somewhere to hang clothes, especially for dress clothes for a wedding or meeting. They need to check that the lightbulbs work, too.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, sausage, bacon, blueberry waffles, biscuits and gravy, muffins, bagels, bread, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. I did notice egg on the sausage, so they may be cooked on the same surface. The pool could use some refreshing, and its depth markings have worn away. It was closed for maintenance on my last night. The motel is under construction and has new ownership, so perhaps things will improve. Until the remodeling is done, I’d recommend staying here. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated having a fridge, microwave, Keurig, and hair dryer. They provided two K-cups, one regular and one decaf. There’s no closet, the bathroom fan didn’t work, and the hot water was dangerously hot. My room had a strong dill pickle smell, so I kept the window open most of the time. I also found a black hair on the bed. The walls are thin enough that you hear everything from the rooms above, below, and next door, though outside noise from the Flying J across the street was surprisingly quiet. There aren’t many restaurants nearby.

It felt like being in a hospital room, without even knowing whether the place was clean. The property was under construction, and the Wi-Fi still showed another hotel’s name. I thought it was a Best Western, but it came nowhere near the quality I expected.

The lobby renovations made it so noisy you had to shout to be heard, and the place was extremely dusty. It’s way overpriced for what feels like a Motel 6 at best. They also put a security deposit hold on your money until checkout, and it can take 4-8 business days to come off your account, on top of the already excessive room charge. If you’re traveling with animals, there’s also a ridiculous fee for each pet.

This was my first time at a Sure Stay, and I thought the quality and service were better than at most Best Westerns and BW+ properties I’ve stayed in. The rooms were clean and a good size. I’ve included photos of my room at check-in. The Flying J is right across the street, but I never heard the trucks, and having a small truck stop shop and gas station nearby was handy. Missy at the front desk knew the area and gave me some great suggestions. Beth handled breakfast, making and replenishing the usual eggs, sausage, bacon, and sausage gravy fresh. It was one of the best Best Western breakfasts I’ve had, and I’ve had plenty. The local cream yogurts were especially good. Housekeeping manager Paige and her team also deserve a mention for their great work. The staff really stood out compared with other BW locations. If you’re here in October, November, or December, there’s a free light show about 200 feet away. It’s hard to miss. The hotel is two minutes from the freeway, around 30 minutes from Spokane Airport, and about 10 minutes from downtown Coeur d'alene.
