Residence Inn by Marriott Provo

I liked the location and my room with a fireplace, and the varied breakfast and convenient shuttle were nice. The staff were friendly throughout my three-week booking. But after sleeping in the same bed for two weeks, I realized the sheets hadn't been changed because I kept seeing the same stain. I asked for clean sheets and only got them after asking again, then had to make the bed myself. The receptionist seemed surprised, which made me uncomfortable. It felt unhygienic that the sheets weren't changed regularly. Laundry was also a disappointment. I couldn't get a coin for the machine by charging it to my room because their system wouldn't allow that, and they only exchanged cash. I'm from Europe and didn't carry U.S. dollars, so they told me to use an ATM. With the high conversion costs and no other need for cash, doing laundry would've been unnecessarily expensive. It would've been a nice gesture to help guests staying several weeks with something as simple as a laundry coin.

The rooms are well equipped for a longer stay. There's a bus stop right out front, and restaurants and a grocery store are within walking distance. My main complaint is the AC fan, which doesn't run continuously. It woke me every few hours when it kicked on, since it's quite loud.

Everyone was amazing, from the breakfast crew and front desk to housekeeping. The indoor pool was nice and warm, and breakfast had a good range of choices. When we had a concern or a question, it was dealt with right away.

The place was clean and comfortable, and I'd come back despite the annoyances. The staff extended checkout to noon when I asked. At 10 pm, though, no one was at the front desk, and the gentleman ahead of me and I waited about 20 minutes for someone to return and check us in. The room key worked, but the laundry key didn't. An attendant let me in and gave me a replacement. The pool was open until 11 pm, but our keys wouldn't work there after 10. Breakfast was missing a lot of items later in the session. I asked for some, especially oatmeal, but they declined because it was too close to the end of breakfast. The shower head leaked and sent about half the water pressure spraying onto the ceiling, though I didn't report it. Other Residence Inn locations I've stayed at had hand lotion in the room; this one didn't. I tried calling the front desk with no answer, then went there and found the “be right back” sign up. They need more staff if the desk is going to be left unattended this often.
