Baymont Inn & Suites Queensbury/Lake George

We were caught in a snowstorm and needed a place right off Exit 19. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The beds were really comfortable, the staff were all friendly, and breakfast was included. There’s a mall nearby, too. We added another night and would stay here again.

It’s a decent place to stay, but housekeeping only comes every other day, and you have to ask if you want fresh towels. The continental breakfast has no bacon or sausage because the owners are vegan, so bring your own if you want meat.

For a solo traveler on a budget, it covered the basics and felt safe. The receptionist was friendly, the lobby was clean, and breakfast was free. My room was clean, though a little worn. The shower was in rough shape but usable. I checked the bed and floor for bugs and didn’t find any. It was quiet apart from the mini-fridge. The odd part was the nightstand, which had some unknown liquid dripping from it and a red stain on the floor next to it.

The pool was clean, the water was just right, and there were plenty of clean towels. Breakfast was good, too. I had orange juice, tea, a waffle, and scrambled eggs, and staff came by twice while I was there to tidy up and refill the buffet. The dining area is original, though the breakfast counter has been updated. We were a bit unsure when we first saw the dated exterior, but the staff were friendly, and our room had new carpet and furniture. You can see the owners are working to improve the older building.
