The pool and hot tub were a big reason we chose this hotel, but seeing the area put us off using them. The posted hours were 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., yet the door stayed locked, and you had to find someone at the front desk to let you in. There were no towels and half the pool-area lightbulbs were out. Breakfast was limited, some of it stale, and signs warned of a $15 fine for taking food out of the dining area. We were visiting relatives nearby for Christmas week. I'd stayed here years ago and loved it, but the hotel isn't what it used to be. We had to put down a $100 deposit at arrival, though it wasn't mentioned in the booking information. I figured it would come back after checkout. The building is old and needs repairs and updates. The lobby was neat and clean, but the rooms were old and dirty, with what looked like boogers on the walls and stains on the bedding. The towels had rips and holes. The beds made loud metal cranking noises whenever you moved, so we didn't sleep well. Our key cards kept failing and had to be reset four times. Twice we waited at the desk with no employee in sight. I called corporate, and they got someone to come back. The employee said he'd been fixing a “major plumbing leak” in a room, but he was completely dry. On Christmas Day, one of our children had a medical emergency and ended up needing surgery. I stayed at the hospital, while my husband went back to pack and check out so we wouldn't have to worry about it the next morning. The front desk employee, who seemed to be the only employee there, followed him shouting, “make sure you bring the cart back down when you're done.” Of course, he planned to. My husband packed and went to the bathroom before taking things to the car. The employee banged on the room door for five full minutes while my husband was trying to finish and get out to answer. The place is run down and poorly managed. We booked through booking.com, where I suspect the reviews are fudged, and after seeing the Google reviews I can only hope the deposit comes back. I photographed the issues because other reviews said the hotel claimed guests caused damage to avoid returning deposits.

The front desk team and other staff were professional and really accommodating. My kids and I enjoyed the pool, though towels in the pool area would make that amenity better. Housekeeping came while we were out, took the trash and dirty linen, and left clean towels for our return, which impressed me. The rooms were clean and bug-free. There's guest laundry and several vending machines for late-night options. This was probably one of the better hotels we've stayed at, and it was cheaper too.

We traveled over five hours for my son's first birthday, but the stay was concerning from the start. The room lights didn't work at check-in. Staff refused to move us, saying the hotel was full, even though the parking lot looked almost empty during a snowstorm. The towels were old and visibly stained. We chose the hotel for the pool and hot tub. My family used the pool from about 9:30-10:00 p.m. with four adults and a baby, then left immediately when told it was closing. We briefly went back to the room so my daughter could open birthday gifts, then left the hotel entirely around 11:00 p.m. Shortly afterward, an employee banged aggressively on the door while my minor sister was alone inside, accused us of having extra guests, threatened to call the police, deactivated the key cards, and made my family leave. The cameras showed we'd left and hadn't returned. We're Radford locals and weren't staying overnight. The hotel and the third-party booking site ignored my refund attempts for days; things only moved forward after I went in person. Staff acted unprofessionally and intimidatively, and the hotel's condition raised health and safety concerns. We'll file complaints with the BBB and Virginia consumer protection agencies. Use extreme caution when booking here.

Management is incredibly rude. They don't respond to emails or calls and will hang up on you. I filed complaints with the BBB and the state. I recommend anyone else who has been ripped off by what I see as unscrupulous business practices do the same. They need to be held accountable. Don't stay here unless you're ready to fight for your money weeks after checkout. As others have said, the property has a recurring “glitch”: it turns the $100 incidental deposit into a completed sale days after you leave, then refuses to return it. Edited to add: You don't know who I am or my dates of stay, so your claim is outlandish. I'll include your response in my BBB and VA complaints as further evidence that you won't take accountability and instead defame people to distract from the real issue. This hotel has a list of one-star reviews on multiple platforms because you're a terrible manager who rips customers off. To be clear, I didn't destroy the room, and I was never charged for damage.

The rooms were comfortable, though dated, with clean sheets and decent pillows. The AC worked well, and the microwave and fridge were clean and functional, but the freezer was tiny and full of ice buildup. The TV was old and its remote didn't work. It's an older building with improvements, mostly clean and well kept. Some doors wouldn't read the card properly. Staff were friendly, though not always around. Coffee in the lobby was kept fresh, parking was great, and the small elevator worked and was clean. The stairwells were clean too. Breakfast was decent, with hot and cold choices but no fruit, and the juice was watered down. You have to eat in the renovated restaurant area or pay a $15 fee. There are fees for everything, including not returning your key cards. There's also a deposit that can take up to 10 days to come back, though they didn't charge me one. I'm not sure when it applies; there are only signs about it. There was a MASSIVE yellow jacket nest in the designated smoking area. Staff were told, but nothing was done while I was there. The pool was cold and the hot tub was only warm at best. Both were a little dirty, and you have to ask the front desk for towels. The pool room looks really cool, though. I'd stay again.
