Don’t miss the back patio and pond view. It was incredible even at night. The rooms were quiet, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel was easy to reach, though the location might be busier at other times of year. Their system was down, but the front desk agents were kind and accommodating, especially Morgan. Ms Jay, the server and bartender, handled the crowd waiting for rooms while also looking after diners who stayed in. After the exemplary service I received, I’ll stay here whenever I’m in town.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, but had a lovely evening at the restaurant and bar. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed our shareable dishes outside by the fire pit under the stars. Since it was cool out, the barmaid helped get a fresh propane tank for the fire pit, promptly brought our drinks, and suggested food when I asked. She went above and beyond, even bringing warm cloths so we could clean our hands after eating. Great service, atmosphere, and menu. We’ll be back. A+

The hotel itself was clean and nice, but the staff experience was a disaster. Two days before we arrived, we were told the water would be shut off throughout the hotel from 8:00 AM to 4 PM on checkout day. They offered bottled water but no compensation, even though that wouldn’t help with showers. Some people in our party weren’t told about the outage at all. At check-in, the woman at the desk couldn’t find my reservation, which I’d already paid for through hotels.com. She charged my card for the full stay and deposit five times. More than a week later, I’m still trying to get one of those charges removed. When a customer is overcharged five times, the hotel should contact them and apologize. And when water is unavailable for that long, there should be some compensation. Stateview Hotel needs to do better. Management should know about this, since problems like mine could drive away future customers. Check your charges carefully at check-in.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, with just-right shower pressure after a long drive. We only stayed one night at StateView Hotel, Raleigh, as a road-trip stop and arrived around 9 PM, so we wish we’d had more time to enjoy the well-kept property. The pool was closed, which was disappointing, and parking costs $12. Though we booked for two guests, there was only one bathrobe. It’s a pleasant hotel in a great location.

The room was quiet, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were really friendly. Everything felt new, clean, and in great condition, with a good-sized room and bathroom. The area is beautiful and parking is plentiful. The bathroom could use more towel hooks. A few small annoyances: parking costs an extra $12 per night, and there were no complimentary water bottles at check-in or in the room. A girls’ sports competition was going on nearby, and several teams seemed to be staying there, so the lobby was often crowded and noisy. Our upstairs floor stayed quiet, though. We enjoyed the two-night stay and would happily return.
