Riata Inn

I only came back because this place is about a 20-minute drive from the well, which is unusual in the oil field. After two nights at $79 each, I tried to book another, but was told I had to leave my room because someone had reserved it. They offered to move me to a double, and I politely said no. Two days later I returned, and the rate was suddenly $110 a night. I was shocked and said I’d go to Big Lake instead. When I asked why the price had gone up by $30, they got hostile and said they were giving me the weekly daily rate before, and now it was the normal day rate. That didn’t make much sense to me. The place is clean and spacious, but it’s a rundown motel built in the 70s, with old furniture and walls that rumble from the heavy semi traffic on the highway. It’s nowhere near worth $110 a night. When I asked about the pricing, I was told to call corporate, but there is no corporate. The person hung up on me, then asked on a Yelp review why I wanted to stay there if Big Lake had better prices. I said Big Lake adds 40 minutes to the drive, but I’m there now paying half as much for a newer, cleaner room. I paid $60 a night with a $250 weekly rate. Several places there offer similar prices. If you’re paying $110, I’d drive the extra miles to Big Lake and stay at the Holiday Inn, which is a much better experience at that price. They seem not to believe in being good to customers. They’re polite until you question them, and then God forbid you ask why they’re charging so much more. Sorry for the rant. I stayed polite, so this is where I can vent. God bless you guys. The owners make you feel like family, and they’re incredibly helpful. I’ll definitely stay here again.

The couple who run Riata Inn treated me like an old friend, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. During my stay in Rankin, Texas, I totaled my car after hitting one of those big West Texas bucks. The whole ordeal would’ve been a lot harder without them. Thank you, Riata Inn.

The people were amazingly great, and the rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. The location was convenient, too.
