Foothills Inn

The main problem was bed bugs. If they got that issue sorted, I'd stay again, because I liked the quiet, quirky feel of the foothills inn and thought it had character. The rooms were a bit dated but clean, and the staff were reasonably friendly. The location was fine, close to plenty of places to eat and within walking distance of downtown. Breakfast was okay, and I liked sharing the dining area with other guests, meeting good people from around the US. The pool area wasn't open when we visited in the middle of May. The location was fine, but I left feeling dirty and plan to treat our belongings and ourselves for possible bugs. I didn't see any signs when we arrived, but there was trash and a previous guest's belongings under the nightstand, so I can't tell whether the room was properly cleaned. The desk clerk was rude and looked unkempt, with a sleeve ripped and falling off her arm. We had already paid, but because we were a little early, she wouldn't let us use the restroom to change. The locks also aren't installed properly. I'm pretty sure they charge another $25 for electricity on top of the room fee, which should be included.

The back door gets locked at 9:00 and the front at 10:00, after which you have to ring a bell to be let in. I'm too old to have a curfew. We found the front desk staff rude, and the breakfast that came with the stay was scant. The Inn itself was clean and quiet, but the beds were hard.

The only good thing was that my room was clean. The building is old and run-down, it smelled bad, and the AC barely worked. Breakfast was included but cold, very limited, and disappointing. They also added fees: $10 per day if you don't book through their website, which they called a processing fee, plus $20 per day for my dog. This was by far the worst hotel I've stayed at.
