Rodeway Inn & Suites

I was traveling in Raton, New Mexico, and booked a stay at Rodeway Inn & Suites. The manager refused to let my service animal stay in my room, saying no pet-friendly rooms were available. He said the animal could stay on the property, but if he came into the room I’d be charged $200. When I asked what I was meant to do if I needed my service animal, he said that was my problem and fault. He even suggested leaving the animal in the car overnight, which I couldn’t do because I need him with me in case something happens. I went back and asked whether I could leave and get a refund. He said cancellation had to be 24 hours ahead and slammed the door in my face while I was still talking. Management didn’t follow the ADA law, which I read to him and which was also on the back of my registration card. He was disrespectful and completely unprofessional. Do not stay at ROADWAY INN & SUITES IN Raton, New Mexico. I don’t recommend it at all, and I plan to file a civil law suit with US Service Animals on my side.

The people here were the friendliest and most accommodating I’ve encountered at a motel. The accommodations aren’t five-star, but the staff are, and the room was bug-free, which mattered most to me. I’ll stay here again whenever I’m in town.

We always use Choice Hotels and had rewards points, so we booked here for a family member taking a long trip. He’d driven 13 hours on the first leg, with Raton as his halfway point. The first room had no deadbolt. A second room wasn’t ready, so he went out to dinner. When he returned, that room had a deadbolt, but the door and frame didn’t line up and it wouldn’t lock. In the third room, the deadbolt worked but the regular lock didn’t. They said it needed new batteries. He accepted the room, then found the floor was plywood rather than concrete, soft and sagging enough that he thought he might fall through. After several calls to Choice, they finally booked him at another Choice hotel, an hour farther away. We had to pay for that second hotel and lost the points used for the RODEWAY INN in Raton. Choice told me to call the next day to see whether the points issue could be resolved. I wish he’d taken pictures. Value your life, don’t stay here.

The sheets looked unwashed, with stains and both human and animal hair on them. The floor hadn’t been vacuumed, and the bathroom floor hadn’t been swept either. If you have nowhere else to crash for the night, I guess this place will do, but otherwise I wouldn’t stay here.
