Best Western Rivertown Hotel & Suites

Our teenage daughter loved the indoor-outdoor pool, and we spent a lot of our downtime there. The room was tidy and clean, though the bathroom felt a bit small despite looking nicely finished. Staff greeted us warmly at check-in and checked in with us during our two-day stay. We had breakfast the second morning, with baked goods, cereal, waffles, eggs, and gravy. The biscuits had run out by 8:45, but the attendant kept things stocked and was still making coffee at 9:15. It was busy, yet people seemed to find what they wanted. We’ll stay here again when we’re back in Red Wing. A hot tub by the pool would’ve been nice for us parents.

When I called about something I’d left behind, the front desk had found it just 24 hours after I checked out and said they’d mail it to me. That kindness and professionalism deserve 100 stars, and I especially want to thank the gentleman who took my call or checked me out. The room was clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well during the very warm weather. We like it quite cool inside. Staff were friendly, and housekeeping even stopped for a quick chat. My husband and I will be back. And please bring on breakfast!

We stayed two nights in a king loft, and the breakfast changed from one morning to the next. It was the usual mix of hot and cold foods, including fresh fruit, plus juice and milk choices. The room had a full-size table for four, a microwave, a big counter with cabinet drawers, and a dorm-size fridge that was larger than most hotel fridges. There were two small flat-screen TVs, one downstairs and one in the loft. The bed was firmer than I like, but the internet worked fine. The hotel is simple but has nice amenities, including complimentary hot chocolate and hot cider on chilly days. The pool area looked nice, though we didn’t use it because we prefer saunas. The exercise room was small but adequate. One thing to know: there’s no elevator to the upper floor, so ask for a lower-floor room if stairs are a problem.

Breakfast was very good for a smaller hotel, and the place was clean and quiet with friendly staff. I was disappointed to find there wasn’t a hot tub, though I should’ve read the site more carefully. We were first assigned a second-floor room, then asked to move to the first floor, and the staff member accommodated us.
