La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Redding

The desk clerk was excellent and moved us to another room quickly. We had to switch because the carpet was dirty with an unknown substance, an outlet was missing its cover plate, and there was a roach on the wall. The laundry machines weren't working, so they sent us to the Holiday Inn Express, which has the same owners. In the new room the shower handle was broken, and it felt like things had only been fixed with the least effort possible. The staff, though, were excellent.

The desk clerk was amazing, but the free breakfast was, well, at least it was free. No washcloths or tissues in the room, and I couldn't really sort it out with housekeeping because of a language barrier. The TV was hard to use, and matching the channel numbers to what was actually on was a challenge. There aren't charging stations, so bring a charging plug.

I won't return to the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndam in Redding. I had asked the gentleman who handled my reservation for a first-floor room because of my handicap. At arrival, the woman at the desk initially said there wasn't one, then went to check and came back saying she had a room. It was a disaster. My assigned room had apparently been given to another guest who complained about it. The next morning, the person I'd spoken with about the reservation moved me right away. That room still wasn't great, but it was much better. The other morning employees showed no professionalism. They cut right in front of me, cane or no cane, without saying excuse me. When I confronted them, they just stared blankly and didn't apologize. I'd recommend staying somewhere else unless quality and professionalism don't matter to you.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this place unless it gets a major overhaul. It was old and dirty, with dark mold around, in, and above the tub, plus a musty smell. The breakfast looked sketchy too. For comparison, we stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Ripon, CA, and it was much cleaner and a nice stay.
