Portofino Hotel & Marina

The jacuzzi felt so good after a day of paddle boarding at the pier. I went with my mom, and waking up to the beach view from our ocean view king bed room was amazing. The seals across the way were a little noisy, but it didn’t bother us much. They were cute and reminded me of my dog 🪽🤍. Such a beautiful view, and I’d book the ocean view again 🦭🐚🌊.

I had a really nice stay at the Portofino, and Elisa at the front desk deserves a thank-you. On my last day, I went out for a walk and breakfast, then got back about 15 minutes before checkout. I was ready to leave and could have rushed out, but I let her know I’d be close to the time I needed to go. She told me to take my time and stay comfortable. It was a really sweet gesture, and that kind of hospitality goes a long way.

The hotel is beautiful and comfortable, with a great atmosphere, and I really enjoyed my stay. Johnny deserves a special thank-you. He handled my bags, was professional, friendly, and helpful, and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. His warm manner and excellent service gave the experience a personal touch. Highly recommend!

The charges after checkout were the last straw. I found more than $400 charged to the card I gave at check-in for the pet deposit, and only noticed after we’d already checked out. They didn’t email a receipt. I called as soon as I saw it because I’d only agreed to the pet charge for my dog. They said this was standard practice and that they could charge the booking party’s card retroactively if I gave them the contact information. Neither of us had agreed to those extra charges. They put resort, parking, and breakfast fees on my card instead of the booking party’s, without telling me or sending a receipt to either of us. We never ate breakfast at the hotel, though we did separately buy a $4 coffee once. It felt incredibly sketchy. I had to dispute the charges with American Express, who were much more reasonable about charges I hadn’t agreed to. We were in town for a wedding, and the wedding party had booked the room for us. We’d been willing to overlook a lot just to have a place to stay, but the rooms were already a letdown for the listed price. The beds were uncomfortable and squeaky, the linens scratchy and cheap-feeling, and there were scuffs all over the walls and carpet. There were no comforters, and the supposed "ocean view" looked onto the harbor wall. The walls were so thin that we were often woken by someone coughing next door or walking around upstairs. Interior windows into the bathroom, covered by plantation blinds, were bizarre and gave no privacy. I even took a picture to send my boyfriend because it was so weird. We had a jacuzzi tub room, but never used the dirty tub because there was mold around the nozzles. If I were the manager, I’d be embarrassed to oversee rooms in that condition. We’ll never stay here again, and I can’t recommend it to anyone. What a horrible experience. Do not stay here :(
