Days Inn by Wyndham Redwood City

The door to my room was open and unlocked when I got back from work the next day. I hadn’t authorized housekeeping or maintenance to enter, and no one had given me notice. That was extremely concerning. Several people from my crew tried this place and left as soon as they saw the conditions. I wish I’d done the same. I ended up sleeping in my rental car the first night, and later, because of the cold, slept fully dressed on top of towels instead of using the bedding. I’ll never return. I arrived late at night to a severely outdated, poorly maintained property. The lobby felt unwelcoming, and the staff seemed disengaged and unhappy to be there. Parking behind the building was very limited, and the area felt unsafe, with people loitering and wandering around. At nearby rooms, doors were propped open, TVs were blasting, and people smoked and yelled outside well into the night. My room had a strong unpleasant odor and was dim, with most of the lights not working or barely working. The comforter had several visible stains. There was a large ceiling crack and visible water damage in the drywall, which made me concerned about mold and long-term neglect. The shower floor was visibly dirty, the bathroom walls were unfinished, and there were stains throughout the room. It felt unsanitary and badly maintained. When I raised the problems with staff, they mostly dismissed me, which made it seem like these conditions were known and ongoing. Given what my company paid, the stay was completely unjustifiable. I take some responsibility for allowing the booking, but this was far below any reasonable standard of cleanliness, safety, or hospitality. I’d rate it zero stars if I could, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.
