Economy Inn Reedsport

The man at Economy Inn was extremely friendly and helpful when we arrived, and we talked about hunting and needing to get on the road early. We got a nice, clean room with a comfortable bed right away. I'd been waiting in my truck at Best Western for two hours until check-in at 3:00 pm, so I called Economy Inn. The front desk person was nice and said they could rent me a room immediately. Thank you so much. I'll be back at least once a year 🥰. It's also close to lots of stores and fast food.

The room smelled musty, and the bathroom was so tight that my knees touched the tub and wall when I sat on the toilet. I'm 5'3", and the toilet was so low I felt like I was on a toddler's toilet. The bed wasn't too bad, but the thin windows let in every sound, from people walking past to the gas station in front and traffic on the road. When I reserved online through booking, I was given a ground-level room, but on arrival we got an upstairs one. Half the outlets wouldn't charge our phones, the light by the bed didn't work, and neither did the hair dryer outlet. This is my opinion of how the room was presented.

The room was cramped, with the bed taking up nearly all the space alongside a table and armoire, leaving barely room for our feet and hardly anywhere for a dog. He told me to keep my dog off the bed, which apparently meant staying awake to watch it or bringing a kennel, if it was small enough to fit. They charge $15 extra for cleaning at check-in, then $75 after checkout if they find even one pet hair. I left the room extremely clean, but he acted as if I'd been expected to vacuum and do laundry myself. The bedding felt like a curtain draped over a rod, not a proper blanket, and I wished I'd brought my own. The rooms are outdated and smell rank. It seemed like guests with dogs get the crappiest rooms, and they shouldn't advertise pet-friendly stays if their expectations are this unrealistic. He said he had to throw out the bedding because he found a dog hair, which felt completely exaggerated. The place is so cheap on makeup and amenities, which are basically zero, I don't believe he did that. I paid the requested cleaning fee, even though it was also bundled into the nightly rate. The room just needed normal vacuuming and laundry; it was in good shape for a quick cleanup and refresh when I left. I'd guess it took half an hour to prepare for the next guest. He's dishonest and shouldn't be trusted with debit cards. When I challenged the charge and asked for it to be removed, he got extremely angry and ordered me off the property. Worst hotel experience I've had. I'll dispute the charge and let the bank handle what I believe was fraud.

The owners are nice and accommodating, and the bed was so comfortable with fluffy pillows. It's within walking distance of a grocery store, a restaurant, and fast food. Some reviews mentioned noise, but with the windows shut you can barely hear it, even though the motel is on Highway 101. They also have fans to use. I've paid more than twice this rate for a room that wasn't as nice. I picked this motel based on the reviews and am glad I ignored the negative ones. I'll definitely stay again.
