Hotel Wave Rehoboth Beach

We left as soon as we could the next morning, checking out at 8:45, and went elsewhere for breakfast. The person who had been smoking outside our room all night was in the breakfast area coughing near the food prep space. The night before had been miserable too: although our room was supposed to be non-smoking and we signed a form saying so, smoke kept drifting in from someone who came out of the lobby to smoke about every two hours. We were right by the lobby, and guests with cigarette allergies should know this could be an issue. Management reportedly told AAA that smoking is permitted outside the entrances, which should be made clear to guests in nearby rooms. At around 4 a.m., we were asked if we wanted to move rooms. We’d spent two nights here in early December. Check-in was easy, but the first room assigned to us hadn’t been cleaned, so the manager found another one. That room was clean and basic, though the hallway carpets looked worn and dirty. There were only two or three cars in the lot when we arrived.

This was our second stay, and the rooms still don’t seem very clean. In the room with two queen beds, we found several black hairs by the pillows on the blanket of each bed. There was hair in the sink and shower as well. We were told the manager had cleaned the room, which makes it pretty disappointing that the comforters from the previous guests were still there. One staff member did help by bringing fresh bedding straight from the dryer and was willing to remake the bed, which was the one good part. The microwave clock was still an hour ahead, even though daylight saving time had ended more than a month earlier. It gave us the impression that little effort goes into cleaning or upkeep. Don’t do it.

My son and I had a really nice stay here recently. The price was reasonable, the staff were super friendly, and our room was clean. We enjoyed the free breakfast too, especially the waffles. We’d definitely come back.

The location is great, and the front desk woman was sweet. The lobby smells nice and clean, but that impression disappears on the way to the room. The halls smelled terrible and the carpet was gross. Our room had a strong musty smell every time we came in. It was dirty enough that I couldn’t wait to leave: the bed was okay, but the room and bathroom were disgusting. The floors and walls were filthy, there were black spots all over the bathroom floor, and I saw bug eggs and a cockroach in the room. I felt gross taking a shower because the bathroom didn’t feel clean. I could tell the rooms weren’t being cleaned well. I’d never stay here again or recommend it.
