Interstate Motel

We’ve stayed here for long stretches, and housekeeping has always been extremely nice and easy to talk to.

I checked for bedbugs as soon as I got in, like I always do, and didn’t find any. That’s about the only reassuring thing I can say. We had no reservation and there was nothing else available nearby because of NASCAR and a cattleman's convention near Indy, so this place served its purpose. The “recently remodeled” claim made me wonder if they meant the 90s. It looked old and worn out, and the photos seem to show the same remodeling description even as prices have gone up. There appeared to be long-term residents, with indoor furniture left outside the rooms. Both beds were well used, different heights and ages, and I could feel the springs in the one that looked newer. The standing lamp had no shade, two sink lights were out, the table lamp shade was cracked and coming apart, and the carpet, walls, and baseboard were stained. I could keep listing things, but I’ll just post a few pictures.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, quiet, newly renovated, and well maintained.

The owners were understanding and helpful from what I experienced, and the prices are pretty decent. It’s okay for a night, but some rooms need a much more thorough clean. The sheets on the beds need replacing or something because they smell awful, and the carpets were sticky with cigarette burns everywhere. I also found what looked like punch marks in the walls and door, as if other guests hadn’t respected the room. The people next door were partiers and severely obnoxious. It’s not a bad place, but it needs tidying up more.
