Residence Inn by Marriott Seattle South/Tukwila

After ten months here, it feels like home, and we’d love to come back next January, 2026. My husband, Salvador Barrientos, and I have had a great experience at Residence Inn, Tukwila. Han is especially reliable. Whenever something comes up in our apartment, he responds quickly, knows what to do, and gets it fixed efficiently. The front desk staff are welcoming and accommodating, and the breakfast team is friendly, attentive, and efficient. I love the fresh coffee. Housekeeping is courteous and respectful, and leaves the apartment clean and fresh-smelling.

After a five-hour flight and a four-hour time difference, I didn’t want to search for another motel. I’d booked a king bed through Marriott Reservations for my daughter, granddaughter, and me, but the manager told me at check-in they only had a queen. We have to use our bodies as barriers to keep my granddaughter from falling out, and I ended up sleeping on the floor with my grandchildren. I had several sleepless nights before my cruise and got no accommodation for the trouble. They also charged for parking without telling me beforehand. I know downtown hotels charge for parking, but we were 30 minutes from downtown. The manager wouldn’t remove the fee he’d failed to disclose, or do anything to make up for the awful experience. Marriott customer service said adjustments were up to management, even though I’d told Marriott Reservations what I needed when booking. Check carefully what room you’re getting before your next Marriott stay. I’ve always been a Hilton Diamond member, and Hilton goes above and beyond with customer service. I’m taking my business back to Hilton.

We had the suite closest to the office, probably one of the newer recently renovated ones. It was clean, well cared for, and felt like home. Deep cleaning seems to be part of their usual routine, and service was excellent throughout our stay. I meant to write this before we moved. Staying at Interurban Suites in Tukwila afterward showed us how misleading its photos and videos can be. That bad experience reminded us that paying a little more for Residence Inn by Marriott can be worthwhile for reliable quality and service. Keep up the good upkeep and service!

Our one-bedroom suite was modern, clean, and spacious. I’d seen earlier reviews mention worn furniture, but we didn’t run into that. Parking was plentiful and easy, and the hot breakfast was generous and typical of Residence Inn. Bonvoy members get free fast WiFi, and joining is free. The property is laid out differently from other R.I.'s I’ve visited, with suites in separate two-story buildings spread across the grounds. We were upstairs, reached by an exterior staircase. There are plenty of ground-floor rooms, which are the practical choice for anyone with mobility issues since the second-floor units would be difficult to reach. The location worked perfectly for our plans, within walking distance of Starfire Sports and Southcenter Mall. There’s a 7-11 in front of the hotel, handy for late snacks and drinks, though some vagrants there may make certain guests uncomfortable. We had no issues over our three-night stay and would come back.
