The emergency alarm went off on our second night, with a recorded message telling us to be ready to evacuate at 4:30 a.m. Nobody explained what was happening or followed up to say all was clear. When I finally reached the front desk, I was told someone had a candle in their room. As we were leaving, a broken pipe was spraying water and flooding the garage. I called the desk, but the person I spoke to didn't seem to care. There's also a mystery charge on my card, and the manager still hasn't returned my call to explain it. We stayed here two years ago and loved it, so we booked again for this trip. What a letdown. The staff seemed unhappy to be there and were annoyed by questions. The breakfast, which used to be our favorite, is basic now. The hotel was dirty, things were broken, and the elevator broke three times. They charge $15 a day for parking, and the deposit amount seemed to depend on who checked us in. Customer service was laughable. For what this costs, you could stay somewhere much nicer. I'd suggest going elsewhere.
I work as a flight crew member and stay in 12 to 15 hotels around the country each month. Since hotel stays are just routine for my job, I usually don't write reviews, but SpringHill Suites Boston Airport deserves a shoutout for its excellent service and hospitality.
The stay at Spring Hill Suites in Revere was a good one, and I'm happy to give it four stars. The waterfront view from our room was lovely, and the Blue Line stop right behind the hotel made getting into Boston easy. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked, there was a restaurant and a Starbucks on site, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. It did feel pretty standard, like other chain hotels, so it doesn't quite get five stars from me. Still, it's well run and a good base for visiting the Boston area. 🎶 There's a place off Ocean Ave, where I stayed in a room with an ocean view. 🎶 #iykyk
The room faced a dirty rooftop instead of the ocean view I'd requested. Since the hotel is right across the road from the beach, that wasn't the end of the world, but there were plenty of other problems. The bathroom faucet was loose and the vent fan didn't work. I reported both right away, but nothing had been fixed by checkout. There were only two towels, so I had to track down housekeeping for two more. The pool was supposedly heated, though I guess that just means warmer than the ocean. Rusty screws were lying around, and the rusty screws holding down the filter covers stuck up. I reported those too, with no action. We arrived at 2:45 for a 3:00 check-in, but the front desk man said it wasn't until 4:00. I showed him the reservation with the 3:00 time, and he got even more annoyed. We came back after an hour. The listing also advertised a "Historical Experience | Boat Tour," but only after booking did we learn it meant a tour was available somewhere nearby. That felt intentionally misleading. There was rhythmic banging every night, and the front desk just said, "I don't know what it is." Breakfast was pretty standard free hotel food. The bed was hard as a rock, the pillows so soft they felt like lying straight on the mattress, and the pullout couch mattress was so bad we pushed it back in and slept on the couch. The garage gate was smashed, and some security cameras were hanging from the ceiling. So much for security. This stay completely wrecked my image of Marriott brands. I'll never stay at a Marriott again.
My mom and I stayed here twice within 10 days while traveling with Country Travel Discoveries, once at the start and again at the end. Both times, the hotel couldn't find us in its system. On the first visit, they had to call Country Travels, and I was lucky to have the receipt showing we'd paid for an extra day before and after the trip. After a long wait, they finally found us a room. We couldn't get the temperature to work right, the bed was uncomfortable for my mom, and the ice machine was broken. The rooms both had views of the hotel roof. We tried the restaurant inside, but the food was so bad we couldn't eat it. They still expected us to pay, with no apology. The next morning they had coffee and water, and I thought it might be out all day. It wasn't, only available during breakfast. At least we liked the beach view from the windows. When we came back at the end of the trip, the staff couldn't find anyone from our travel group in the system, so we stood around waiting again. Once we got to our room, the TV showed someone else's name, then changed to a different person's name about 20 minutes later. I called the front desk to confirm we were in the right room, and they told me not to worry. We were about to head down for dinner when another family started walking into our room. The hotel had assigned it to a second group. We sent them back to the desk and followed, but it was busy, so we went to the restaurant across the way by the bridge. When we returned, neither key worked. At the desk they said all the key cards had been disabled. We got new ones, without an apology. After our travel group asked for feedback, we told them to avoid this joke of a hotel.
