SureStay Plus by Best Western Rexburg

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was basic. We arrived 20 minutes before check-in and were told, without hesitation, that checking in early would cost $40. The general attitude at check-in is why I gave service three stars.

Nothing fancy, but it had what we needed for an overnight stay. Check-in was easy, the place was easy to reach, and the room was extremely clean and quiet. There was no carpet, and the sink was outside the room with the shower and toilet. Breakfast was better than average, with apples, oranges, and fruit compote for cereal or yogurt.

We booked through Hotels.com and were offered a room by the exterior entrance for convenience at check-in. The hotel has no elevator. We were told it would be quiet because it was only a third booked, but the room next to the stairs was noisy all night. People stomped up and down until 1:30, then again from 3:00 to 5:30. After the first night, the desk manager offered to move us. He also said the next night would certainly be quieter, so we decided to avoid the hassle. It wasn’t quieter. People used the stairs until 2:00 am and started again at 3:45. After the second night I spoke with the manager and suggested they comp one night. He refused, saying he couldn’t do anything because we booked online instead of directly with the hotel. I sensed prejudice toward customers who book online. The hotel staff must know how noisy the rooms beside the stairs are. Those should be assigned only after the other rooms fill up; they’re the worst in the hotel. One front desk employee was just plain rude when I raised the noise issue, while the desk manager was pleasant enough but seemed biased against online bookings. I’d never stay here again.

After a visit to Yellowstone, we spent the night here. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast had a good range of choices and tasted very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d stay here again.
