We enjoyed walking around the area, and the bar, valet, and front desk staff were very helpful. Still, we wouldn’t stay here again. Before booking, I called specifically to ask about nearby EV charging because the listing said valet had none. I was told that was incorrect and charging was available through the service. When we handed over the car, we learned they only had Tesla charging, so we couldn’t charge as planned. That was a major inconvenience on a family road trip, especially after calling ahead to avoid this problem. Our room was cramped, the bathroom sink stopper was stuck so water wouldn’t drain, and there were not enough basic supplies like cups and towels for the number of guests we’d registered and paid for. There’s no coffee or tea service in the lobby. The top-floor restaurant was closed and inaccessible, even just for the view. One cleaning staff member wouldn’t move their cart a few inches so we could pass with our loaded luggage cart. We were lucky they moved the pile of dirty sheets left in the hallway, all while carrying on a loud, complaining and obviously very personal phone conversation. The stay was adequate overall, but these issues put us off returning.

We’d stay here again. The staff looked into morning noise from another room promptly after I mentioned it, and I couldn’t have asked for a better response. Our one-night stay was comfortable, the room was clean, and the bathrooms were nice. Valet parking went smoothly. We didn’t need to come and go, but were told that was included in the $37 fee. The downstairs bar was pleasant and service was quick. The rooftop bar is seasonal, so I didn’t get to see it. Coffee shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The main drawbacks were check-in not starting until 4 p.m. and no complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Mila made my birthday feel extra special. Once she heard about it, she and another kitchen staff member brought balloons and a charcuterie board up to our room. We were also upgraded to a suite without asking because we’re Hilton Honors members. The Graduate Richmond was super clean and comfortable, with A+ service. Our stay was spectacular. Thanks, Mila!

The bed felt sunken and was uncomfortable, and the small bathroom had a tub that wouldn’t drain while we showered. When it finally did, the bathroom smelled like sewer water. We usually like Graduate hotels, but this was easily our least favorite. The room quality shocked us given all the great reviews, and we’ll most likely never return to this location.
