They quoted us $73, then charged $130, and there’s still a temporary extra charge on my card that hasn’t dropped off. A search of Colorado’s state website also didn’t show any entity called “Rodeway Inn Rifle.” This place and its owner need to be investigated. The room itself was in unbelievable shape: the toilet ran constantly and had broken porcelain and a broken lid, the TV didn’t work, and the smell was bad. There was mold and old-looking staining on the window sills, plus chips across the countertop. Breakfast was four mini bagels, oatmeal packets, and dry cereal. It’s the filthiest, most run-down hotel I’ve ever seen, and I’ve traveled through numerous third-world countries.

We prepaid for a room and called the manager to confirm it, but when we got there they said they couldn’t find the reservation. So bad. I’m disputing the charge with the booking service and my credit card. I’m sure I’ll get my money back, but travelers should beware. They try to rip people off.

The desk guy was really friendly and tried to help as much as he could. I’ve stayed at Roadway Inn many times and it’s always been nice, but this stay was awful. The AC vent fell onto the floor, there was no security lock, and the bathtub drained too slowly, though the shower was okay. I had to leave the room to get the Wi-Fi to work after trying over and over. If all you need is a bed, I guess it might be okay. They claim breakfast is included, which is a laugh: cold coffee, two kinds of cereal, and a loaf of white bread.

Breakfast was terrible, no surprise. The room was disgusting too. When I pulled the covers back, I saw black and white stains. The door had a hole in it, the trim work was the worst hack job I’ve seen, and they couldn’t even match the paint color. The caulking in the bathtub was gross, and the soap package was already open, with the bar looking used. The dresser had a broken leg that looked like it had been that way for at least a month. I found an older review from someone who had the same room a month earlier. They said it would be fixed, but it still wasn’t. The staff don’t look after the place or care about guests’ stays. This place is absolutely unacceptable. Don’t stay unless you have no other choice. It needs to be inspected and shut down.
