We’ve been staying here for over a year while clearing out my parents’ house and getting it ready to sell. Tara, the manager, always makes sure we get the room we request, and the whole staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are awesome. I’ve been coming to Manteo for 25 years and love visiting, with its great restaurants, shopping, and happy hour spots. Nu Vine Wine shop especially has great service, a wonderful atmosphere, and lovely staff. Stay here and enjoy Manteo.

We were only in town for one night, but we’d definitely stay at Island Guesthouse again. Tara was friendly and communicative, the motel is SO cute, and the linens and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I’m very picky about bedding! It’s pet-friendly and VERY affordable.

The fire pit was such an awesome addition, and we enjoyed it every night. It felt like hanging out at a friend’s house. Tara was a sweetheart and always available, and the rooms were very nice. My only suggestion as a woman would be to add full length mirrors somewhere in the room. It definitely wouldn’t keep me from coming back, and I look forward to seeing them again!

For about nine months, we stayed at the Island Guest House once a month while building our home in Manteo. Each visit was a great experience, with a clean, friendly, accommodating guest house and outstanding staff. Tara, the manager, and Amanda consistently went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We’ll miss staying here, and we’re grateful for the friends we made along the way. Highly recommend!

My buddy and I stayed in the motel section for 4 nights in January of 2026 while visiting to fish. The room was clean, and the staff were really nice and friendly. We didn’t need anything during our stay, which says a lot about how they operate. 10/10, I’d recommend it and stay again.
