I deliver food to guests, and the hotel staff treat gig workers like criminals trespassing. They harass us and stop us from taking orders to the right room, more than any other hotel nearby. I answer to the customer, their guest, while I’m doing the delivery. As a guest, I’d wonder why staff need to interfere with a commissioned delivery and keep the driver from handing food directly to the customer. Why should someone have to leave their room and take the elevator down to get a meal? I’d be furious if the hotel blocked my driver from bringing food to my room. For all I know, staff might go into the food, touch it, or even steal it. That’s bad hospitality, not security. Management needs to rethink how they treat people serving their guests.

The rooms are small and poorly furnished, and maid service only comes once a week. It took ten minutes for my hot water to warm up, and even with the shower turned all the way hot, the water was still a bit chilly. The laundry is called “free,” but several machines were out of order and the dryer was useless. My clothes ran for three hours and still weren’t dry, so I had to hang them in the closet. If you bring a pet, they put you in a worse room with no carpet and charge extra. These are the worst rooms in a box hotel, and you HAVE TO PAY EXTRA. There’s something very, very wrong here.

The kitchenette is tidy and has the basics for making a decent meal. Service was top notch, too. The receptionist communicated well, was personable, and helped me right away. I’ve stayed at a few Candlewood Suites locations, and this is the nicest one so far. I haven’t checked out the workout or water areas yet, but I’m looking forward to it.

The room was spotless, and the beds and pillows were so comfortable. I usually bring my own pillow, but forgot it this time, so that was a blessing. The bathroom was clean and had a nice selection of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I’d happily stay here again. It felt cozy and comfortable. Great job, guys! We’d driven 5 and 1/2 hours to Rockford for a show at the BMO and were exhausted by the time it ended. It was late, with nowhere open for dinner, so we went to a Denny's and luckily found Candlewood just two minutes away. Everything was close by. Scott checked us in quickly and gave us ice since there are no ice machines on the floors at this extended-stay hotel.
