We’ve stayed here plenty of times and have always been happy, and this visit was no different: the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff great. The real standout came when we were leaving for the seven-hour drive back to Michigan in early December. It was cold and snowy, and our truck wouldn’t start. Vince, the desk clerk manager, apologized that he didn’t have jumper cables, then checked whether a coworker might. Antonio showed up a few minutes later with his cables and helped my husband get the truck going despite the miserable weather. We were grateful to both of them. Victor was friendly and personable, too, and helped lighten the mood. Antonio really went out of his way. Those two proved the stereotypes about young people wrong. A great place to stay.

Vince was especially kind and accommodating, and the whole staff was wonderful. The room was spotless and surprisingly quiet, even though we were on the first floor near the lobby. I loved that the hotel accepts pets, too. My cat had plenty of room to play in the king suite.

The front desk folks were really friendly, and the bar and restaurant in the hotel were okay for both food and service. But there’s no complimentary breakfast or coffee. Mostly, that shower handle was a pain: my wife couldn’t pull it out to start the water, and it took me some effort too. Without that, this would’ve been an okay overnight stop.

The front desk followed our special billing instructions carefully. Our room was quiet, even though I’d worried about being between two elevators, and the hallways were clean. Thanks to Sophie, the room was clean as well. The bed was comfortable, and there was a nice choice of pillows. The vanity would’ve been more useful with a light, and the bedroom TV kept having trouble staying connected to the internet.

Thunder Bay Bar restaurant across the parking lot was amazing, and there’s lots of room to park trailers. The hotel’s in a good spot, with friendly staff and clean rooms that don’t feel too dated. I’d stay again. There’s no free breakfast, but with my wheat allergies I usually can’t eat that kind of breakfast anyway.
