Budget Inn

The bathroom was filthy, with a dirty old tub and a wire hanging out of what I think was the exhaust fan. The drawers fell apart beside the bed, and the ceiling looked ready to collapse. There was a Holiday Inn trash can in the room, which never looked like it had seen a vacuum. It smelled like dead old people. In all my years of traveling and staying in motels, this was the most unsanitary, death-smelling room I’ve experienced. I felt I’d have been better off sleeping at a local gas station. Very disappointed and disgusted.

The staff were nice and it was quiet, but we paid double for three nights because of a festival and left after just one when we found bedbugs. We’d looked at the room before paying and saw no signs, so we decided to stay. The paperwork said there were absolutely no refunds, but after we said we didn’t want to move rooms, the guy heard us out and refunded one night. I think they’d tried to get rid of the bugs before and were having a hard time. He apologized a lot when I showed him my bite and the bug we’d killed.

After driving all day, dealing with a filthy room, broken lights, and a door that wouldn’t lock was the last thing I needed. I asked to change rooms and the desk manager was extremely rude, arguing with me and threatening to take my money and kick me out. He eventually gave me another room, but it was even worse. I travel for a living and have stayed in some rough places, yet this was one of the worst. The signs all over the front desk saying there are no refunds explain a lot. If you’re feeling gutsy, ask to see the room before paying. I hope this place gets shut down.

The rooms are pretty good for the price, and they don’t have roaches. If cigarette smoke bothers you, keep the suggestion in mind. The place feels iffy, but the staff are really good. They leave you alone and mind their own business. Keep your door locked and to yourself and you should be fine. I’d stay here again.
