Claddagh Motel & Suites

Everything was clean and well cared for, but the service stood out most. We got a flat tire on the way here, so I called the office to say I’d be late. They were very understanding and let me check in a little later. It may seem like a small thing, but it was a big favor for a tired traveler. Thank you.

We had a room with two queens, though they were separate rooms, each with its own TV and AC unit. Both rooms looked nice and were very clean, and the guy who checked us in was pleasant. I’d definitely stay here again when I’m in the Rockport area.

I was surprised to find out that what we’d booked was an entire two bedroom apartment. There was much more room than I expected, with a full kitchen and bathroom, plus a TV room overlooking the pool. The second bedroom has two double beds, there’s a futon in the TV room, and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of sleeping options for our group of three, and room for at least six. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking indoors or at the grilling area, which has a grill and several tables with umbrellas. There was also a large dining table in the TV room. Staff were super friendly at check in, check out, and breakfast. They gave us a map showing the path down into Glen Cove. We walked it at sunset as the tide was coming back in, and it was beautiful. We also spent an afternoon by the pool. It was super clean, with both shaded and sunny places to sit, and cool floats for adults and kids. Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of self service choices: tea and coffee, juice, fruit, breads, bagels, muffins, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, granola, cream of wheat, waffles, pancake and sausage on a stick, hard boiled eggs, omelettes, yogurt, and more. My friend lives nearby, so now that I’ve discovered Claddagh, I’ll be staying here more often and bringing more family next time. I’d also like to see what the smaller motel rooms are like.

The owners were very welcoming, and parking near the room was handy. The hotel is okay, though at the high end of accommodation prices. The room cleaning and bedding were great. I couldn’t get any TV audio working, even though it wasn’t muted and I tried several channels with the volume turned all the way up. Luckily, I could use their wi-fi on my laptop instead. The morning coffee was rewarding, once I managed to open the wrapping. Some services, notably complimentary breakfast, aren’t available off season in April, so this review doesn’t cover those.
