Motel 6 Rockport, TX

I stayed more than two weeks, nearly three, and the room was never cleaned. They didn't make the bed or sweep once, even after I asked. I also went without toilet paper for the first 10 days and had to buy my own. The large room and closet were nice, but that's about all that went well. The day-shift clerk, who I'm not sure was a manager, had plenty of excuses when I asked about replacing the badly rusted microwave. I was concerned it could contaminate my food. She said she'd tried, but it was difficult when people were asleep. I explained there would be days when no one was in the room, so they could clean and replace it then. Three weeks later, there was still no microwave and the room still hadn't been cleaned.

They were really nice, and I didn't complain at the time, but the room was gross. I found pajamas that weren't ours, cute ones, and then realized the dirty towels left by the previous guests were still there. I'd thought my kids had showered while I was asleep, but they hadn't.

The room got unbelievably wet once we turned up the air conditioning. Water covered the floors, furniture, bedding, and our clothes. Outside, I ran into fire ants near the picnic tables while walking my dog. The desk clerk also refused to give me extra pillows, even though there were only three for two people in a king bed.

We had plenty of parking for our family road-trip shuttle bus, and I saw space for several more boats and trailers in the area between the pool and building. A big convenience store behind the hotel is just a minute or two away on foot and stays open 24 hours. It looked like a handy place for a hot breakfast or lunch. My family and I used three rooms this weekend, and they were all clean. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, and we slept well. We arrived late and didn't check in until 3 AM, but the front desk made it easy and was polite the whole time. We accidentally locked our key inside while moving bags, and they quickly made us another at 3:30 AM without a fuss. I appreciated seeing the American flags flying from the hotel building too. There was only one full-size bath towel and half a roll of toilet paper for three people. The front desk explained where the other towel was kept and gave me a couple more towels and toilet paper. We all enjoyed the stay and would come back.
