We’re here for one night because my son has a wrestling tournament in town. This feels like a motel, not a hotel. It took 20 minutes for anyone at the front desk to greet us, and after booking ahead for $140, I found there was also a $100 incidental fee. I had to drive my car over to our room. The room smelled like a basement and had nothing up to date. There’s nowhere to plug in a USB or C charger, no hair dryer, and the microwave is turn-key. They give you sample-size toiletries. The only ice machine is in the main hotel. I booked a double Queen, but the front desk asked whether I still needed the other bed. I’ve stayed in better places for less.

For a reasonable price, this is a very nice hotel, just not super-lux. My room was clean and everything worked. It had good lighting and plenty of outlets, and the lobby has a nice fireplace. The indoor pool is very nice, too. Breakfast is served in a good room with decent choices, though there’s no bacon or eggs and the like. The website makes that clear, so I have no complaint. My one quibble is the old-school cable TV, with all the commercials. Smart TVs are pretty cheap and would let guests stream Netflix and similar services.

We were looking forward to the hot tub, but found only a pool in the designated area. Google listed a hot tub, and it said pool and spa, but there wasn't one available. Avoid room 308. We stayed there, and an electrical box ticked all night. It got louder at times, making it very hard to sleep.

As a Rockport native, I was excited to bring my kids to what I think is the best town on earth. The staff's unwelcoming attitude really bummed me out. They seemed bothered by our small requests, even though everything else was just fine. We checked out a night early despite having prepaid, and the guy at the desk just said, "thank you." It was clear they weren't interested in what off-season guests wanted or needed.

Staff were kind and helpful, and the location worked great for the wedding events we were in town for. We tried driving downtown but couldn't find parking, so we used Uber. It's a little too far to walk. The room was a basic motel room with a comfortable bed. Shower pressure was low, and my husband had to duck to wash his hair. I'm 5'5" and only just fit under the shower head.
