Hyatt Place Dallas/Rockwall

This ended a stay that could have been nice on a terrible note. We’ve been here before, and last time the main problem was running short of breakfast items and plates during regular breakfast hours. This trip we visited our son with our two small dogs and booked three nights because the hotel allowed pets. I’m undergoing cancer treatment and have vision issues, so I brought plastic containers to carry breakfast back while my husband walked the dogs. There weren’t paper plates, only small, hard plastic ones, and I couldn’t carry two. The first two mornings went fine. On the last morning, a staff member stared at me, then asked sharply, “take out containers?” I have trouble reading name tags, so I didn’t know her name. I explained we had dogs in the room and didn’t want to leave them alone, and asked if there was a problem. She rudely said no, and I went back to the room feeling shaken. The person who checked us out wasn’t the same employee, so I didn’t bring it up then. Later I mentioned it in the feedback email and review request. The reply thanked me for my kind words and said they’d pass them along, which made me think they hadn’t read my feedback. I wrote back to Arianna, who then read it and said taking food to the room violated hotel policy unless I used their plastic plates. I had no idea that was a policy. I’d walked past the desk with breakfast each day and no one had said anything. I explained that I have dogs and, because of my treatment, didn’t want to sit in a crowded breakfast area. I thought using my own container was convenient and avoided taking their plates to the room. What upset me was the way I was treated, followed by the replies saying I’d broken a policy I didn’t know existed. At our earlier visit, there weren’t any plates at all and we had to skip breakfast one day because there were no clean dishes.

We were here for a friends’ wedding and had an amazing stay. The place was clean, and the service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and ready to help with whatever we needed. Ericka made an incredible breakfast every morning, and thanks to Tanner, Emma, Heaven, Helen, the maintenance and housekeeping teams, and all the staff. We’ll be back and will recommend Hyatt Place to everyone. Love you guys!

After a single night at this Hyatt Place, I woke up with a large red, swollen bite on my arm that hadn’t been there before I checked in. The timing and circumstances strongly suggest it came from an insect in the room. I reported it and took photos, but the experience alone badly undermined my trust in the property. Guests shouldn’t leave wondering what they were exposed to while sleeping. Cleanliness and guest safety should be non-negotiable for a Hyatt. I hope management takes immediate, concrete steps to address this, and I’d caution future guests to stay vigilant.

The walls are so thin you can hear a neighbor sneeze three rooms away. The AC shuts off unless you keep moving, like it’s a Fitbit, and the toilet needs encouragement while the shower barely rinses. This is less hospitality than survival training. Camping feels luxurious by comparison. I’m cashing in my loyalty points and disappearing for good. Travelers, book anywhere else.
