Driftwood Motel

The view is the one thing I liked. I've stayed here a few times over the years, and this visit was the dirtiest. There were cobwebs everywhere, hair in the bathroom corner and shower, and a used washcloth draped over the shower. We never got fresh sheets or towels unless we asked. I think clean towels and emptied bins should be automatic, and guests who don't want service can say so. I took our trash out twice myself. Breakfast was basic, with cereal, oatmeal, a few muffins, and make-your-own waffles. I wasn't impressed.

The view was great, but the room had a musty smell and the pillows were very flat. Our sliding door wouldn't lock properly, the TV screen kept having problems, and we got strange calls that were just static. For a stay longer than one night, you'll need to ask for housekeeping and towels.

There’s a trail leading down to Lake Huron, and the location is great. The pool and hot tub were nice to have, though that area could use an update. The place itself needs updating too.

We found this during our trip and really enjoyed how quiet and relaxing it was. It’s friendly to motorcycles, and town with plenty of amenities is just down the road. The listing says it’s right on the water, though you still have a short walk to the beach. Lake views are available from second-floor rooms, not the first floor. Nothing fancy, and breakfast was just adequate. The restaurant next door was expensive, but the food was amazing.
