Hampton Inn & Suites Rosemont Chicago O'Hare

A United flight mess left me stranded overnight in Chicago. I first called the DoubleTree, but it was too expensive, and they wouldn't match Brek.com. Breakfast wasn't included there either. The woman on the phone was really helpful, though, and suggested this Hampton Inn, one of their "sister hotels." It was much more affordable, included breakfast, and had a free shuttle to and from the airport. I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, but the hotel was updated, clean, bright, and comfortable. The hot breakfast had THREE waffle makers, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. Hampton Inn for the win!

I didn't have my toothbrush or toothpaste, so the complimentary set came in handy, and the airport shuttle was useful too. Breakfast starts at 6:00 and is the usual hotel spread, nothing fancy. I'd recommend staying here.

The building and amenities were nice, but our floor smelled strongly of marijuana all night, even through our closed door. When I reported it to Eli, I believe, she rolled her eyes and seemed genuinely annoyed. My husband is in the military, and I was worried that exposure might get into his system and cause a positive test, which could lead to a dishonorable discharge. Her attitude continued whenever she saw us for the rest of the night. I would have appreciated an offer to move floors, but she only sprayed Lysol, which didn't get rid of the smell. If you're in the military, I'd strongly suggest finding somewhere else.

For the price and location, this is a good Hampton Inn. I only stay at Hampton Inns, and some are way below standard, but this one was clean and nice. Parking at $24 a day was cheaper than at the other hotels around O'Hare. Two things kept it from being a five-star stay. My digital key wouldn't work no matter what I tried, so I had to get a regular one at the desk. Maybe the door sensor was malfunctioning. The other issue was kind of funny: the shower and its handle were placed in opposite spots, as you can see in the photos. I'd never seen that before and got a blast of cold water on my back. Otherwise, a great hotel and location.
