Rotan Inn

The location worked well for a quick stop: it's in the middle of a small town, with a DQ next door and a grocery store across the street. The bed was comfortable, the TV worked, and there were a microwave, small fridge, plenty of towels, bar soap and shampoo. The TV wasn't HD, though, and there was only half a roll of toilet paper. The toilet was a bit dirty, and I spotted several stains on the furniture and one on the bedding. I only needed a place to eat, sleep and shower, so it wasn't a major concern. The staff were friendly when I arrived late after a long drive, on my first of two stops toward Colorado. I asked about checking out around noon and the man said that was fine, adding that he was a few doors down if I needed anything. He couldn't make change for the $80 I handed over for a $75 bill, even though they take cash, so I paid by card. For a weekday, $75 felt high to me. I'd put it more in the $50-$60 range. They could clean better and replace some furniture, but I'd stay again if I just needed somewhere to crash for a night.

This is a 50s-style motel that's been upgraded, and the owner is really friendly. The bathroom work is especially nice, and the rooms have a refrigerator and microwave. There's no breakfast, but you can get groceries across the street. The new owner is still trying to get WiFi set up through AT&T and has been having trouble. The TV works well in the meantime.

6/11/2024 I stayed at the Rotan Inn and was always given a chance to relax and enjoy my company during my time there. The rooms were clean, ready for guests, and had the appliances needed for a comfortable stay. The service was kind, and I appreciated the humble, welcoming manner. Thank you, Rotan Inn. The rooms are clean and simply furnished, with a microwave and small refrigerator. You can usually park right outside, and there are both smoking and non-smoking rooms. It's inexpensive, and I always stay here because I enjoy the experience. There's a great breakfast cafe next door and a grocery store across the street. No WiFi or phone in the rooms, and cell service is spotty across the community. It's a quiet little motel in a rural north Texas farm and ranch town, run by a friendly family. The check-in office is small and clean, next to the owners' home, and has that mouth-watering curry smell. They seem like honest, hardworking, proud American people. If you wind up off the beaten path, give them your business. On a warm summer evening, sit outside by the vegetable gardens in a lawn chair and visit over a cold drink beneath the bright, easy-to-see Milky Way. It's a casual place to wash up and get a good night's sleep.
