There’s plenty of room to sit, both inside and out, and the pool table, hot tub, and indoor games were nice extras. The kitchen opens onto the living room, which makes the home a good fit for entertaining. It was clean and spacious, with a modern kitchen stocked with the cooking essentials. We’d stay here again.

Having a grocery store literally around the corner was so convenient, and the place is close to everything Ruidoso has to offer. Mountain Sage really does feel like home as soon as you walk in. The whole house was immaculate, and I couldn’t find a thing to complain about. The decor was warm and inviting without being overdone. Everything felt top notch, from the appliances and cookware to the dishes and furnishings. There was also room to put our things away and keep them out of sight. I couldn’t have been happier!

We spent Christmas here, so this was meant to be more than a vacation, but the terrible service tainted the memory. I had problems with the cabin and contacted Ruidoso vacation rentals. Over 10 days, they didn’t fix the issues or take the initiative to address them. I got automated messages saying someone would call shortly, but nobody did. When I asked for management, they kept promising a callback and wouldn’t connect me. One time I was told to hold for a manager, then got hung up on and had to start over. The guest portal had no information for my property, and I couldn’t even find a way to contact the owner. The company still hasn’t responded to my complaints or request for a partial refund. The hot tub never worked, despite the listing bragging about the scenic views from it. I was told to contact third party contractors to fix the hot tub and dishwasher because maintenance couldn’t handle it and the problem was being escalated. My daughter spent the week washing dishes by hand. The trash receptacle was locked, so I spent the week fighting raccoons while waiting for a code that never came. The LP tank was empty and locked too, so we couldn’t exchange it. There are plenty of beautiful homes in Ruidoso. Avoid this property management company if you want to feel like a valued guest instead of an inconvenience. I’m sure they’ll book the next guest without addressing these problems so they don’t miss their profits.

It was a nice spot in the middle of Ruidoso, within walking distance of downtown and close to nature trails and other interesting things to do. The scenery was lovely, and wild deer, elk, and horses showed up now and then. Our family of 16 fit well across five nearby buildings, one large and four smaller, with 11 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms altogether. The property is older, so things can go wrong from time to time. When we needed help, the service people were prompt, courteous, and ready to assist.
