The room was VERY clean, which matters most to us. Even the bathtub and shower, though they looked like they’d seen better days, were clean. It’s an affordable hotel with very nice, helpful staff. The sign says it’s under new management, though I’m not sure since when, so let’s assume it’s recent. The common areas are quite run down. Part of the hotel is closed off and looks like it could fall apart soon, with some windows boarded up there and at the back. The hallway carpet and other things also need updating. Still, good value for the price, a very clean room, and great staff.

They only showed queen beds on the website, so I called to ask about king beds and a private spot. We have two Saint Bernards and didn’t want to disturb other guests, or have them keeping us awake as people came and went. This worked out perfectly. Other places that accept dogs haven’t had a good place to walk them for their business. It’s an older place, but the beds are comfortable and we had our own balcony. The building is well made, so it was super quiet, unlike cheap motels where you hear people on every side and above and below. Our dogs didn’t bark once and kept us awake. In the past, we’ve had so much noise wherever we stayed that we never got any sleep. If you want privacy and quiet, this place is magnificent, and the customer service is excellent!

The place is pretty far from Ruidoso D, and there’s no pool. The property felt run-down and nearly empty, and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned well. Half the lights were out, including lamps and bathroom lights. The towels were so cheap they seemed to come apart and leave bits on me while drying. The beds were very firm, and there were hardly any pillows. The ones provided were flat, and I couldn’t get more. I even found two tiny pillows tucked inside a pillowcase to make it a little fuller. I couldn’t figure out the heat. I wasn’t cold, but there was no way to cool the room enough to sleep. It also seemed like the few guests staying there were put on the bottom floor with no view. For the price, this should be a $50-a-night hotel even during peak season. On the plus side, it might suit back sleepers and people who prefer not to socialize.

I was glad I gave this older motel a chance. The outside is showing its age, but my room was really nice. The staff were accommodating, and they welcome pets. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back.

We saw lots of deer on the hillside behind the hotel, and the views were great. It’s a quiet, dog-friendly place with nice staff, and the location works perfectly for tubing at Winter Park. The rooms are huge, though the bathroom is tiny. The comforters were cheap and old, and the property itself hasn’t been updated in over 20 years.
