The Exchange Sacramento, Curio Collection by Hilton

I'm still at the hotel, and this could be sorted out this morning. I sent an email last night, too. The response I got below isn't much help. The room and location are great, but service has fallen short. I booked through an aggregator site that clearly advertised free breakfast, and I have the email showing what I paid for. At the hotel, they offered just $40 in breakfast credit for four people, while dishes at the restaurant run about $20-30 each. They wouldn't honor the advertised deal or offer any other accommodation. All I heard was, “we'll speak to the sales team.”

I paid extra for a river view and ended up looking at the freeway. When I asked the front desk, they told me that's what they call their river view. The historic building itself is fantastic, and the rooms and service were as good as I expected.

The street can be a little noisy, but the rooms are clean, very nice, and cozy. The hotel is small and in a great spot for walking to restaurants, Old Town Sacramento, or just spending time nearby. I'm not sure what led some people to rate it so poorly. Everyone I dealt with, from hotel and restaurant staff to valet, was a 10/10.

The fitness room is very basic, despite what Google's “Generative AI” says: a couple of treadmills and some free weights, with no cable machine. The rooms are tiny, which makes sense in such an old building, but I wouldn't pay this much for it. I'd pick a “normal” hotel instead.
