Howard Johnson by Wyndham St. Augustine/ I-95

I was unsure about this hotel after reading the reviews, but I’m glad we stayed. The drive to the historic parts of town and the forts was easy. Our room was nice and clean, and the bathroom was even cleaner. It smelled good, and I could tell the sheets were fresh. The pool was fairly clean too, though a few cigarette butts around it really grossed me out since I don’t smoke. I’d have liked more TV channels; we had only about four to choose from. I definitely recommend it.

Decent place, with pleasant staff and low prices. I liked that the rooms had no carpet because it seemed cleaner to me. The shower still had visible residue from previous guests, though, and there was long black hair all through the towels. I’m a guy with short hair, so it wasn’t mine, and there was a lot of it. Breakfast had no meat or eggs, and the waffles tasted expired. The TV was tiny.

The room itself was decent, but the toilet seat moved freely because it wasn’t attached to the base. The floor was filthy, gritty, and grimy. After the visit, I checked my bank account and saw two different charges for the same one-night room. Buyer beware!

The front desk staff were really sweet, and the location was fine. It was a tiny bit cheaper than nearby hotels, but I’d still probably not return. The shower had sand in the bottom, and its temperature wouldn’t stay steady for more than a minute and a half. There were only two towels, which might have been enough if I hadn’t needed to clean out the shower first. The bed was very hard, the ceiling was cracked, and the decor felt dated.
