Best Western St. Clairsville Inn & Suites

We stayed six nights in March and another six in July, paying around $1100 total. I’m a platinum member, and I can’t understand why this Best Western at over $90 a night doesn’t clean rooms daily when the Super 8 down the street does it for $50. I’ve stayed there on three different trips. This was the only hotel on our four-week, 6000-mile trip with a policy like this, and it’s really not acceptable. During our six-day July stay, housekeeping never cleaned or restocked the room. With all the trash and crumbs from our five-year-old, it got pretty bad. On day four, staff said the do-not-disturb sign had been up one day. It had, but what about the other four, when it was off and we were out? They said the maids had no rooms to clean that day and were doing deep cleaning instead. Given what I found under the couch bed, that explanation was hard to square. That fold-out bed had dirty sheets and trash underneath it. I had to call the office to get it addressed, and they made excuses. They also expected me to change the dirty sheets myself. Staff were nice, but seemed to blame the maids, who I think were following management’s direction to cut costs by not cleaning or restocking during stays. I’d stayed here once in March to see what the rooms were like before bringing my family in July. Breakfast was fine, and the room was acceptable aside from these problems.

For the price, this was a terrific deal. The beds and furnishings were nice, the place was clean, and the morning coffee was pretty good. I’d stay again.

The location worked well for a weekend getaway, and I’d happily stay again. Check-in was quick and friendly. The lobby and room were very clean, breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the heated pool was clean too. There was also an exercise room.

I paid $107 as a walk-in after joining rewards, which only took giving them my email. The place was very clean and nice for a reasonable price. For a quieter room, ask for one on the US40 side of the building.
