Super 8 St. James

I was calling to ask about a room because my dad is at the St. James hospital, and the staff were rude. They said rooms were available on the top floor, which I was fine with, but couldn't tell me how long I could stay. Surely they could see whether it was booked later? When I asked what other options there were, someone called Arjun, Dhruv, Kabir, or something close to that hung up on me. I'd give negative 1000 stars if I could.

The location was perfect for town, and the beds were comfortable. That's about all I can say in its favor. We were in room 117, and the owner kept hanging up when trying to reach my wife in the room. When I called from elsewhere, he ignored me, hung up, and turned the phone off. He was rude and had no professionalism or customer service skills. The service was awful, and the maid was loud and disruptive, acting like the place was her amusement park with no consideration for guests. The pool and hot tub were dirty and had so much chlorine that my wife and daughter immediately got rashes, which turned into blisters within a day. We kept itching in the room, too. The heat was stuck on high and made the room unbearably hot whenever we turned it on. The shower was broken. After asking three times for batteries for the remote, we bought our own. The ice machine didn't work, and the vending machines took my money twice with no refund. The room and everything else smelled like someone was spraying a terrible odor to cover things up instead of cleaning. Breakfast was the same bland, stale waffles and yogurt every day, the waffle maker handle was broken, and there was no fresh juice or milk during all four days. This was a thoroughly disappointing stay. We'll never return, and we're reporting it to the BBB. I'd suggest going to the next town instead of staying at the St. James Super 8. Thanks, and God bless. The accessible room we had was spacious and comfortable. The staff were especially kind and attentive to what we needed. An outstanding hotel, thank you!

The hot tub and pool had so much chlorine that I broke out in hives and blisters, and I was itchy throughout the stay. Breakfast was the same each morning, just old biscuits with canned gravy, with no bagels, danishes, or fresh fruit. The juice machine didn't work, so they used gallon jugs, which felt unsanitary. I hope my doctor doesn't find bed bugs, fingers crossed. I can't recommend this hotel. Sometimes you just have to accept the loss and stay somewhere else.
