Circle R Motel

The staff are friendly, and for the price, especially with a hot tub included, it's hard to beat. I've stayed here around five times over the years. Rooms are cute and generally clean, though they can differ quite a bit, and the bathrooms and laundry could use more attention. If some wear and tear doesn't bother you, it's decent value.

I won't stay here again. The room was freezing: I turned up the space heater, but after a couple of hours it was only 60 degrees. I asked the front desk for another heater or a different room and was told neither was available, though they did give me an extra blanket. It was a sub-zero night, and by morning my room was down to 55. When I went to shower and warm up, the pipes had frozen overnight too. Maybe that could have been avoided if they'd supplied another heater, replaced the rusted one with a newer unit, or fixed the room's heater. The toilet had poop splatter inside, even though the rest of the room looked clean, so I had to wonder what else hadn't been cleaned properly.

I've stayed twice, once during the packed peak season and once in the off season, and it was quiet on both visits. The highway location has plenty of food and drink nearby along Highway 50. Historic downtown isn't close, though I walked there in about half an hour. This is an old budget highway motel, and I mean that as a compliment. The inside and outside have a great '50s look, the front desk is friendly, and my rooms were clean. The bathrooms are showing their age. Whether you'll enjoy it depends on what you expect. The price is hard to beat if you're fine with the usual rough edges. Long live Circle R!

Hard pass. The place is extremely run down, there were bugs in the room, and the TV and appliances didn't work. They insist you leave well before 11 a.m., with no exceptions. Burnt outlets meant there was nowhere safe to charge anything. This is the bathroom drain for reference.
