We loved staying here and would gladly return again and again. The rooms are clean, cute, and a good size, with parking right outside that made unloading easy. They let us bring our two well-behaved Bernese mountain dogs without charging extra, which was a huge perk. Downtown was an easy, nearby walk for dinner.

It's affordable, and the rooms are clean with really friendly staff. The place is around a mile from downtown, with open fields across the way and the river a short distance off. I've stayed here every Memorial Day Weekend for the Bluegrass Festival and love it. I won't stay anywhere else.

I was able to get to my conference at the Steamplant on foot through a pleasant neighborhood, and the location also made morning runs easy. For a relaxed first run, I took the river trail through the baseball fields. The next day, I ran through the neighborhood and downtown to reach the Arkansas Hills Trail System. I spent two nights in a Queen Sleeper room by myself, and the welcoming feel, with families and pets around, made me feel safe. Check-in was simple, and the room was clean and stocked with what I needed. I'm glad I chose the Woodland and would recommend it to other visitors to Salida.

As the local veteran service officer, I recently needed to find a warm place to sleep for a veteran, and the motel worked with me right away to make it happen. The owners and their team showed compassion and consideration that I haven't seen matched. They go above and beyond for visitors and the local community. If you're looking for a place to stay in the area, I highly recommend their motel. A corporate chain can't match the small-town charm and excellent service.

We paid an affordable rate for a stay about half a mile from the main part of town, and the service was great. The room and location could have been better. Room 27 had a strong stale cigarette smell, and the bathroom was narrow, with the wall close to both the sink and toilet. Noise from people upstairs late at night and early in the morning made it hard to sleep well. The king bed and pillow choices were comfortable, though, and if we return I'd ask for a different room. We hadn't been told about the road work and surrounding closures when I called about early check-in. As first-time visitors, we had trouble figuring out the way in until we backtracked and took a 'business access' detour. There were some nice extras at the small front desk area, including snacks, ice water, coffee, and tea. They also had cruiser bikes, but the seats were worn and there were no helmets, so we didn't ride them. I didn't get a chance to use the hot tub, though it looked nice. For the price, it was a decent stay.
