Being close to everything downtown was great, and I love this town, but the inn could be so much better. The lobby was closed, and trying to communicate by text or email was a joke. The rooms are tiny and way overpriced for the area, with nothing included except low-budget coffee in plastic. There's no breakfast. There are better places for the same price or less. Check out the bars, though be warned that many still allow smoking inside. From the outside, this place looks like a dive.

Inside, the rooms were cozy and much prettier than the building's shabby exterior led me to expect. But I tried repeatedly to reach the owners by email, phone, and text, and couldn't get through. That's why the review is poor.

The coffee shop in the building was fantastic, and the place felt much more personal than a generic chain hotel. I loved the historic exterior, and inside it felt like staying at a good friend's guest house. Hank and Sharli were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. This was the best hotel experience I've had in a long time.

The latte was the worst I've had in years, and the bagel breakfast sandwich was really dry. There were so few customers, yet the service was surprisingly slow.

The hosts sent thorough keyless entry instructions by email and text. I found the room very clean and nicely arranged, and the location is great for walking around downtown. I was searching Google maps for lodging within an hour of Lost Trail Ski Area when this deal appeared, so I booked through the website. I'd consider staying here again if I'm back in Salmon.
