OYO Hotel Shelby MT Hwy 2 and I-15

It was really quiet in our room, with nothing audible from the hall or the other rooms. The fridge was roomy and very cold, and the room seemed fairly clean apart from the tub, which felt clean but was stained brown with dirt. The sink water never got very hot. Check-in took quite a while, and the only washcloth in the bathroom had blood stains, as if it had been washed and put back out for someone else to use.

I don't usually complain or leave reviews, but paying almost $100 for this night was unacceptable. We had to switch rooms after starting to fill the tub in the first one and having the room flood. In the other room, the sheets and towels were stained, and there was a dirty facecloth behind the bathroom door. Both rooms were horribly dirty.

We felt safe staying here even though we didn't know the area, and getting around Shelby was easy enough. OYO was convenient for what we needed. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming at check-in and again when we left the next morning. The room was clean and comfortable for one night, with a satisfactory bed and bedding and a restful sleep. The bathroom showed its age, but it was very clean. There was plenty of hot water and good enough pressure for a morning shower, and the towels were clean without being scratchy, always a plus. I didn't try the coffee since we were heading to a friend's for breakfast, though it smelled really good. We'd stay again if we're in the area.

We picked this as the closest budget place for our trip to Mount Rushmore the next day, and we'd stay again. The staff were helpful and attentive, and our renovated room looked stylish. I love the orange style! My daughter, who is 6, loved it too and danced around in all that space. A carpet would have been nice, but lots of hotels don't have one these days, so it wasn't a real issue.
