The room itself felt cheap and cramped. Though large, it had all the beds squeezed into one corner, leaving less than 3 feet between you and the next person. Stapled white cardboard between beds gave no real privacy, and the beds, lights, and shelves felt flimsy. Bposhtels' ads use photos of facilities EVO provides, which gave me the impression the rooms would be similar quality. They aren't. Bposhtels manages a few shared rooms, but isn't part of EVO and doesn't run the gym, skatepark, sauna, or other facilities that might attract guests. You'll see there are no signs for Bposhtels inside or outside the building. This review isn't about EVO. When I contacted Bposhtels to complain and ask for some sort of compensation, the representative was rude and aggressive, and hid behind the no-refund policy, as the attached screenshot shows. They also pressured me to cancel my reservation, presumably so they could resell it and earn twice. To me, that says they don't care about the guest's experience and just want the money. If this were a $20-a-night hostel, I might understand, but it costs more than twice that. For two people or more, you'd pay the same for a hotel room booked directly with EVO. I'd strongly recommend that or one of Salt Lake's many top-rated Airbnbs. I've stayed in great hostels around the world, cozy and fun places. This isn't one of them. I think this company is a scam, so avoid it. PS, I expect Bposhtels may respond to discredit this review. Please see the attached screenshot of my chat with their rep. Happy travels ✌️

It was a great find to get an affordable hostel near downtown SLC. The room was unbelievably clean, and the bed was more comfortable than I expected. It was the nicest, cleanest hostel I've stayed in. Sharing a room has its usual challenges, but nothing beyond what you'd expect. My roommates were considerate, and each bed had its own charger and locker. The bathroom in the room was spotless and spacious, and having access to the locker room area and sauna was a real plus. I didn't get to try the bouldering gym or yoga classes, but would if I stayed again and had time. A couple things could be better: the beds squeaked whenever anyone moved, though WD-40 might be an easy fix. Also, the bathroom door was a loud barn door and the room wasn't soundproofed at all. It should be for daytime use only, or changed to a regular door. I woke up every time someone used it in the middle of the night because of the noise.

The street outside the hostel was being worked on, so getting there was a bit difficult, though that wasn't their fault. Inside, it was clean, thoughtfully designed, and welcoming, a big surprise after nearly seven years away from hostels, when I expected somewhere noisier and more run-down. The bouldering gym was busy but we couldn't hear it from the sleep room. The rooftop bar had a nice vibe and was well stocked. Our sleeping room was clean, the bedding comfortable, and the bathroom spacious and well designed. Check-in staff were friendly, and I loved that she brought her dog to work.

My only gripe was with bunkmates who talked and left the overhead light on without thinking about anyone else. Still, that's the sort of thing you might run into in a place like this, and I'd come back a hundred times. I loved staying here. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and I had no complaints about the buildings or amenities. It's a really cool place.

The hostel was decent, with comfortable enough beds and okay rooms. I liked having a ski shop and a couple of other stores, including a bike shop, right there. It's close to downtown Salt Lake and the landmarks, and there's plenty to do at the hostel.
