Hilton Garden Inn Salt Lake City Downtown

The location was probably the best part, with just about everything in the city within walking distance. The restaurants were great too, from the breakfast buffet to the steakhouse. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye at Spencer's is a must have. Our room was spacious and clean, with the amenities you'd expect from a Hilton. Every staff member we encountered was smiling and ready to help, and the front desk went out of its way to make the stay memorable. Fantastic experience from beginning to end. I'd definitely return next time I'm in SLC.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and the location is excellent for walking around. Everyone I spoke with at the hotel was nice, and when I checked out I told the front desk about the problem. The person there apologized and said they would pass it along to engineering. I'll give the hotel another try and update this if I have an above average stay. The reason I rated it average was the heat in my room on the first night. I arrived late, set the thermostat as low as it would go, 65°, and it was 30° outside. Still, I woke up sweating in a room that seemed to be about 78°. The air from the vent wasn't cold, though it wasn't warm either, and I couldn't figure out what was going on after checking what I could in the middle of the night. After about half an hour, I looked at the filter by the vent. It was visibly overdue for a change, apparently 15 months old. Once I removed it, the room started cooling right away, and by morning the temperature matched the thermostat. I assume the blocked airflow was why the unit wasn't working properly. I'm surprised nobody had reported the heat before, though I can't know for sure. It seems like preventive maintenance should catch something like this before it causes more trouble and costs for the hotel and guests.

The pool and jacuzzi were nice, and the hotel's amenities were current and standard for a Hilton. Dining hours could run a bit later. The rooms were fine, though some furniture in ours was starting to show its age. It's a nice place downtown in SLC.

The indoor pool and hot tub were a hit with the girls, and the gym is small but has enough equipment for a workout. The hotel was very clean. There's a self-service convenience store, though some items came up as "can not find" when we scanned them, so we couldn't pay for those. We were in town for a volleyball tournament, and the location worked well for walking to the Convention Center, shops, and restaurants. The Coffee Bar has quick service and a few breakfast items to take away. There's also a sit-down breakfast, which we didn't try. My main hassle was the app key taking a very long time to process, so I used the physical key instead.
