Motel 6-Salt Lake City, UT - Central

We booked on the website, but the staff member we first met at check-in was rude. Our room smelled terrible and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests. My husband went downstairs to ask about switching rooms, but the woman at the counter had left and her car was gone. He tried again 10-15 minutes later and found another woman, who was helpful and changed our room without a problem. We chose a cheaper place, so we knew not to expect a five-star stay, but the extra $100 charge on our bank account was still frustrating. They said it would drop off after the stay. I questioned that because it had cleared the bank, and charges like that are usually pending until checkout. It’s now been a month and we still haven’t received the $100 deposit back. I won’t stay at a Motel 6 again.

The staff were so nice, and the manager was especially friendly. We felt good about the secure parking lot too, with just one entrance and exit, parking permits, and someone checking the grounds at night. My husband, our two kids, and I stayed two nights, and it was an awesome, really inexpensive place. We'll stay here again when we're in Salt Lake. Looking forward to the pool opening.

We left after just five minutes. There was trash and scattered food by the bins on the way to our room, and people hanging around the parking lot. Inside, the room had food still in a broken fridge, towels with holes, and a dirty bathroom with dirty sinks and a missing drawer. The shower was oddly outside the bathroom, with no door, and its walls still had dried soap writing on them. How had that not been cleaned? I can't believe a filthy room like this costs over $100. Do not stay here.

The hot tub looked like a crime scene, and there's a hidden path in the dog area where people from the overpass come in to stash their stuff. The rest was fine for a night or two, and it's pet friendly. Our room was clean, the pool was nice enough on a hot day, and the bed was comfortable, though firm. The pillows were great too, and getting three with a king bed was generous for this kind of place.
