The location is convenient for downtown, with the option of walking or taking the small train, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The city noise never lets up, and the train runs right under the window. The town starts playing music at 8:00 am, so good sleep just wasn’t happening. The room’s heater didn’t work, and the bedding felt like a dryer sheet. I froze and had to ask for a blanket because they don’t keep them in the rooms. The shower had almost no pressure, the water never got hot or even lukewarm, and it suddenly shut off while I was in there and didn’t come back on. Pick somewhere else.

From the 13th floor, we had a great view of Abravanel Hall and the Salt Palace Convention center to the south, and Temple Square to the east. We’d booked a standard room with one queen bed, then upgraded last minute to a suite for the in-room hot tub/bath. We didn’t use it because the bottom looked worn or faded and cracked, which put me off. The bed was okay, and the heater and thermostat worked fine. Outside noise didn’t bother me much. The interior was decent but dated, with a few holes in the walls where artwork seemed to have been removed and fabric valances that looked very old and hadn’t been dusted since 1997. I wasn’t pleased there was no free breakfast, or that we had to pay to park in a public, shared lot as hotel guests.

It’s an old hotel, with dated facilities, no complimentary water, and no American-style breakfast. The reservation page advertised a Jacuzzi, but it wasn’t working, which felt misleading. This is a low-cost hotel where what you’re paying for is the location. I came from work and needed a couple more hours before checking out, but they wouldn’t extend my checkout. If you can spend another 30-50 usd, I recommend staying at one of the much better hotels in the area.
