Americas Best Value Inn San Antonio Windcrest

The room was mediocre and the service was horrible. I checked in around 5:30 p.m. with two toddlers, and the manager seemed unprofessional while trying to use a computer she didn’t know how to work. I wasn’t given the Wi-Fi password. The room phone didn’t work, the sheet had cigarette burns, a lamp was missing its bulb, there were phone numbers written on the walls, and the bathroom towels were stained. We tried to make the best of it, took a shower, watched TV for a couple of hours, and went out to see friends. When I came back about an hour later, all the roads to the hotel were blocked. There were no detours, and nobody answered the office phone to help. I spent the night at another hotel. I came back around 9:30 the next morning to check out and have the free breakfast, but there wasn’t any. The lobby was never open, and staff lived on site. I asked for a full or partial refund and was refused. When I asked about the advertised breakfast, the man just shrugged. I’m not coming back.

It’s quiet here, and not much goes on. At other nearby hotels people are often out and about wanting to talk, and I prefer to be left alone, so I liked that. The room is small but had what we needed. The woman who checked us in had a bit of an attitude, though she was helpful. The bathroom was pretty gross, not gonna lie, and the towels were stained.

The bathroom was spacious and comfortable, with bright lights and great water pressure. The rooms are nicely updated and immaculately clean, and the online rates are a great deal. Staff can refresh the room daily, which is unusual for similar places, and they’ll handle special requests with a smile. The two women I met were so friendly I wondered if I was on a hidden camera show or in a movie. The front office staff, who I think are the owners, were courteous, efficient, and helpful. They seemed to care about guests being happy. There were no surprise fees or cash deposits. They keep the AC off while the room is empty, so turn it on as soon as you arrive. It cools down quickly. I’ll book here again when work takes me to SATX. The photos I attached were taken right before checkout, not when I arrived. The room looked even better then.

We left right away. The floor was dirty and had cigarette butts on it, and the bed had hair, urine stains, and cigarette burns. The toilet was so disgusting it made a porta-potty look good. The shower was filthy, with wood slivers in the tub. I’m still waiting for a refund.
