Best Western Windsor Pointe Hotel & Suites-Frost Bank Center

The breakfast was disappointing, with little variety: yellow eggs, sausage that looked half cooked, and watery-looking apple juice that tasted watered down. There was also the famous Texas-shaped waffle. The towels were stained, and I found a strand of hair on the bedside table. The tub was slippery and had handrails only on the inside wall across from where you needed to hold on, not on the side wall, which felt unsafe. The toilet was low and would make a handicapped person's knees hurt. Maybe this was different from a Best Western Plus. I usually stay at the Best Western Plus in ARDMORE OKLAHOMA, and it's very nice, with all the amenities. Next time I have to remember it needs to be the Best Western Plus. I hope I won't go here again.

This is a no-frills Best Western in a very industrial area. A paper sign saying “No Public Restroom” greets you on the front doors. The fast food place next door had security patrolling its lot, and the hotel beside this one looked like a long-term apartment property, with people coming and going at all hours. The hallways aren't air conditioned, the ice machine was out of order, and the elevator panel was damaged. We had trouble getting the first-floor button to work.

The room and building were in rough shape: construction was underway, the linens were old and torn, and the pillows were tiny decorative ones. Our two-bedroom suite came with only two towels, and the walls, doors, blinds, and shades were all marked, stained, or dusty. None of that was mentioned when we booked. My wife wouldn't sleep in her pajamas or walk barefoot in the room, even though she's stayed in some very basic hotels in developing countries. We were told the elevator buttons had been damaged by kids using super glue, as if it had just happened. Looking at these reviews now, it seems the issue had been there for months without being fixed. The front desk staff tried to help as much as they could, but management seemed absent. The hotel is under “new” ownership, though I don't know how long that's been the case. Unfortunately, I wouldn't consider staying here on a future trip to San Antonio.

The front desk guy was cool, and that's the reason I'm giving this two stars. Breakfast was supposed to be available at 8, and it looked like they had set it up, but there wasn't any food. The OJ was gone too, so I left. The elevator button stuck, and I had to bang on the panel to get it to release so I could get out. The AC only had two settings, full blast or off, and the TV remote only worked when I held it right next to the TV. Just about the Worst Western. I'll never be back.
