Club Wyndham La Cascada

The location right on the Riverwalk was perfect, and we loved the pool, the views, and the extra activities scheduled through the day. The resort and our room were clean, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. My family had everything we needed. This has jumped to the top of my list of places to stay.

The location was awesome, and the staff were super friendly. Cookie made checkout really easy, and the service was great. There were a few snags, though. They were meant to call when our rooms were ready but never did, leaving two rooms in our large party unchecked in while most of us got settled. I understand delays with a big group, but they still should have called as promised. One bathroom didn’t work properly, and we had to call maintenance twice. Housekeeping only brings clean towels or other room service if you ask. They also offer three activities a day, but each lasts only about 20 minutes, so you have to be there at the posted time. A few details need work.

The location worked well, with River Walk access behind the building and the lively area about two blocks away. It’s walkable to where you want to go, though not right downtown. Our one-bedroom had plenty of space for two, a nice living area, and a decent view toward the courthouse. Violet, our concierge, offered good suggestions and helped with reservations. The rest of the staff were hospitable and helpful, too. A few small things could be better: more towel hooks, a light switch inside the bathroom, and another trash can in the bedroom or by the bathroom sink. We attended the sales talk, which was supposed to take 90 minutes but lasted closer to two hours. We’d definitely visit again.

The room was spacious, kid friendly, and comfortable for our family of six, with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and a dining table that fit all of us. But the balcony view was a letdown: it faced straight into an office building, right at the windows, where I could see a woman typing at her desk. There wasn’t much privacy or much of a view. The River Walk also felt farther away than the photos suggested. A dam is behind the property, and that isn’t the River Walk. There are no food options at the hotel, which was inconvenient, though there’s an H-E-B nearby if you plan ahead and buy groceries. Parking costs extra, with valet at $25 a day, and that price should be made clearer. The stay was just okay, but if you’re considering it, I’d still say book it.
